Deep Reduction - 2
Also from Deep Reduction:   Deep Reduction - Self Titled LP
After the completion of the first Deep Reduction album, the original bass player had departed and been replaced by guitarist and 60's beat style guru Jonathan Sipes of Omega Men spy-fi fame. The new line-up diligently recorded tracks for their second album, but failed to find the right vocal approach. Having multiple singers seemed to diffuse the focus of the music and the excellent backing tracks languished until a better idea came along. While the band was touring Europe the plan was born to ask Rob Younger to step in and take over the vocal responsibilities.

Younger agreed, and was given the green light to rewrite lyrics and melodies as needed. Rob worked with the songs for a few months, then travelled from Australia to Al Cox's Studio 213 in Mechanicsburg PA. The vocals were redone, and a couple of extra tracks added. Rob and Deniz supervised the mixes. Rob's unique and strong vocal approach seemed to be exactly what was needed to unify and focus the album, simply titled "2".
