Lizzie over recent years has been singing a sultry Jazz set around the traps of Sydney with various bands including the Flaming Stars. The forthcoming debut album 'On The IN Side' is her first foray into songwriting and it felt as natural to her as diving into a wave on a hot day. Deniz's long and hard rocking background with Radio Birdman is well known. In Soul Movers a raw and previously unseen soul side to his playing has been uncovered.
Soul Movers' first recorded in 2008 with a resulting single now out exclusively as a picture sleeve 7 inch. Released by Spain's Munster Records, it features a respectful full-power cover of Aretha Franklin's Baby I Love You and the original soul-deep gospel-inspired ballad Piece O Me.
Encouraged by finding the sound they were looking for with Baby I Love You, Lizzie and Deniz started shaking the walls of Melbourne's Hothouse Studios in February 2009 with the album On The IN Side resulting. Their Memphis-style rhythm section features veteran producer / bass player Craig Harnath and drummer Brett Wolfenden (Rushcutter). Finishing touches were applied by Radio Birdman veteran keyboardist Pip Hoyle and Sydney scene jazz veteran Frank Bennett on blasting tenor saxophone.
On The IN Side will be released in September on the band's own Cool Time Records label which has found distribution in Australia via Fuse and in the USA and Europe via Career Records. Currently Lizzie and Deniz are showcasing in the US and Europe with more shows planned there for next year. Australian audiences will be given a sneak preview when they showcase locally in October in Sydney and Melbourne to launch On The IN Side.
